Hate crimes therefore contradict the Christian message of love, unity, and community. The Golden Rule — “Do to others as you would have them do to you” — directly rejects prejudice, discrimination, and violence. Even more radically, Jesus taught believers to love their enemies (Matthew 5:44), making hatred fundamentally unchristian. Christians condemn hate crimes as sinful because they undermine community and destroy God-given life.
