Creation stories explain how the world and people began. For Christians, the Creation story is very important because it shows God’s power, kindness, and His connection with humans.
The Christian Account of Creation
The Christian story of Creation is in the Book of Genesis, at the start of the Bible. Genesis tells how God made the heavens and the earth. He separated light from darkness, made land and sea, and filled the world with plants, animals, and people.
This story teaches that God is all-powerful (omnipotent) because He created everything from nothing (ex nihilo). It also shows that God is all-loving (omnibenevolent), because everything He made was good and helped humans.
The Bible begins with the words:
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)
This shows that God is the Creator of everything. For Christians, the Creation story teaches that life is a gift from God, and that people must take care of the world He made. This duty is called stewardship.
The Days of Creation (Genesis 1)
Day 1God creates light and separates light from darkness.He calls the light day and the darkness night.At the end: “And God saw that it was good.”
Day 2God creates the sky, separating the waters above from the waters below.At the end: “And God saw that it was good.”
