GCSE topic:

Muslims believe that Allah has always cared for humanity and wanted to guide people towards the right path. To do this, Allah sent prophets and messengers throughout history. These prophets taught people about God, how to live good lives, and how to worship Him properly.

Who are the Prophets?

Prophets are special people chosen by Allah to deliver His message. They were ordinary human beings, but Allah gave them wisdom and guidance to teach others. Muslims believe in many prophets, including some that are also important in Judaism and Christianity. These include:

  • Adam – the first human and the first prophet.

  • Noah – known as Nuh in Islam, who built the ark and warned his people to follow God.

  • Abraham – known as Ibrahim in Islam, who showed great faith in God.

  • Moses – called Musa in Islam, who received the Torah and freed the Israelites from Egypt.

  • Jesus – called Isa in Islam, who taught about God’s love and performed miracles.

Muslims respect and honour all these prophets.

Muhammad: The Final Prophet

The most important and final prophet is Muhammad (peace be upon him). Muslims believe he was chosen to receive the last and complete message from Allah. This message was given to him through the Qur’an, the holy book of Islam.

Because Muhammad is the last prophet, Muslims call him the “Seal of the Prophets.” His life and teachings are seen as the perfect example of how to live as a Muslim—being kind, fair, and obedient to God.

Why Prophets Matter to Muslims

Prophets help Muslims understand how Allah wants them to live. They are role models of faith, patience, and trust in God. By following the examples of the prophets—especially Muhammad—Muslims try to live good, honest, and compassionate lives.
