Beliefs About God in Judaism

Judaism is a monotheistic religion, which means that Jews believe in one God who created the entire universe and everything in it. God is seen as all-powerful, able to do anything; all-knowing, understanding everything that happens; and present everywhere at all times. This belief helps Jewish people feel connected to God in their daily lives, knowing that God is always aware of their actions and cares for them.

How Jews Show Their Faith

Jews show their love and respect for God in many ways. They pray regularly, both alone and in the synagogue, and they study the Torah, learning God’s laws and teachings. They also try to live good lives by being kind, fair, and following God’s rules. These actions help them honour God and make the world a better place.

God’s Special Relationship

Jewish people also believe that God has a special covenant with them. Because of this, they are sometimes called the Chosen People, not because they are better than anyone else, but because they are chosen to follow God’s teachings and be an example of goodness in the world. This special relationship with God is central to Jewish identity and shapes the way Jews live, celebrate festivals, and pass on their traditions to the next generation.
