In the Bible, Jesus performs many miracles, here are three.
Walking on Water (Matthew 14)
One night, Jesus’ disciples were in a boat on a lake, struggling against strong winds and waves. Jesus was not with them, but he came towards them, walking on the water. The disciples were frightened, thinking he was a ghost. Jesus reassured them, saying, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” Peter, one of the disciples, asked to walk on the water towards Jesus. Jesus told him to come, and Peter did, but he started sinking when he got scared. Jesus saved him and they both got into the boat, and the wind calmed down.
This miracle shows Jesus’ power over nature, demonstrating that with faith, people can overcome fears and challenges. It also shows Jesus’ ability to protect and save.
Healing the Blind Man (John 9)
One day, Jesus met a man who had been blind from birth. His disciples asked why the man was born blind. Jesus said it was so God’s power could be shown in him. Jesus then spat on the ground, made some mud with his saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. He told the man to wash in the Pool of Siloam. The man did as Jesus instructed, and he could see again.
This miracle highlights Jesus’ love and his power to heal physical illnesses.
It also symbolises that Jesus brings light and understanding to people’s lives.
Raising Lazarus from the Dead (John 11)
Lazarus, a friend of Jesus, was very sick. His sisters, Mary and Martha, sent word to Jesus to come and heal him. However, by the time Jesus arrived, Lazarus had already been dead and in the tomb for four days. Jesus went to the tomb and told the people to roll away the stone. He prayed to God and then called out, “Lazarus, come out!” Lazarus came back to life and walked out of the tomb, still wrapped in his burial cloths.
This miracle shows Jesus’ power over death and his ability to give life. It also reinforces the belief in resurrection and eternal life, offering hope and comfort to believers.
