In Islam, Jesus, known as Isa, is considered one of the most important prophets, but not the incarnation of God.

Key Islamic teachings
  • Jesus was born to the Virgin Mary, Maryam, through a miracle from God.

  • Jesus’s purpose was to be the Messiah, and lead people back to the faith of Abraham (Ibrahim).

    • "We gave Jesus, the Son of Mary, clear proofs, and We supported him with the Pure Spirit." (Qur'an)

  • Jesus’ teachings on love, compassion, and forgiveness are important in guiding people to helping others, being kind, and living a good life as a Muslim.

  • Jesus performed miracles, including healing the sick and raising the dead, in order to show his God-given authority as a prophet, not that he was the incarnation of God.

  • Jesus did not die on the cross, but was instead raised up to heaven by God.

  • Jesus will return at the end of the world to restore justice and defeat falsehood.

  • Jesus was a servant of God, like other prophets such as Moses and Muhammad, but he was not the Son of God.

In Islam, Jesus is highly respected and his teachings are important, but Muslims do not believe he is the Son of God, which is a key belief in Christianity. Instead, Islam places emphasis on the idea that Jesus was a servant of God, The respect for Jesus in Islam shows the shared respect for him between Christianity and Islam, though their beliefs about him are different.
