These religions all trace their beginnings back to Abraham, who lived in the Middle East around 1800 BCE. There are some similarities and important differences between these three religions.

Islam - no pictures of God
Judaism - no pictures of God; use the word G-d, rather than writing God out in full.
Christianity - pictures of God are allowed
Beliefs about Jesus -
Christinaity: Jesus is the Messiah (the saviour of humankind) and is the son of God
Islam: Jesus is the Messiah (the guide for the Jews) but is not the son of God
Judaism: Jesus is not the Messiah (the saviour of teh Jews or of humankind), and is not the son of God.

Known as the father of the Jewish people. God made a covenant with him, promising him land and descendants.
Known as the founding father of Judaism
A Jewish prayer containing 19 blessings.
The ‘standing prayer’. Recited as part of public acts of worship in the synagogue.
Judaism - ‘The anointed one’. Orthodox Jews believe that the Messiah will be a human person sent by God to establish justice and peace on the earth. For Reform Jews, the Messiah is a symbolic figure.
Christianity - The saviour of humanity. Jesus.
Communicating with God; listening to and speaking to God.
Jewish prayer that affirms belief in one God.
Jesus as God’s son.
